  • 1/2 cup rice milk
  • 2 cups White flour
  • 1/2 cup vegetable shortening
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp raw honey (optional)


  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.

  2. You will need a large mixing bowl and a mixer or a fork for mixing-Mix all of the ingredients together in any order.

  3. Take a rolling pin and roll out the dough to 1 inch-1 1/2 inches thick. Use and sprinkle on additional flour onto the dough to prevent stickiness when rolling.

  4. Cut out the biscuit with a good-quality sharp cookie cutter. You can make this step fun for kids by using different cookie cutter shapes, rather than just the traditional circular biscuit shape. In addition, the thicker you roll it out the dough, the taller the biscuit will become after baking.

  5. Place the cut out biscuits on a greased baking sheet and bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes.

Recipe Notes

Tip: If you roll out the dough to less than 1/2 inch, cut the biscuit dough out with your preferred cookie cutter shape and then layer each thin layer of cut-out dough on top of each other, this will give the biscuit a more layered look after baking.
