I love that when you make your own food, you know exactly what goes in the recipe.

Why do we love healthy whole wheat crepes with flaxseed?

As a mommy, I’m always looking to make something better or “healthier” to a certain extent because i’m not the only one eating at my house. There’s my hubby, and then there’s my kids. That includes our baby that i’m nursing. So if i’m starting out my morning right, so is everyone else that’s currently in the house for breakfast.

That’s what being a mommy is all about. Responsibility. And I take my food seriously over here.

We love this recipe because it contains healthy omega-3’s, calcium and whole grains!

It’s a hearty and perfect breakfast option. It can also be used to replace a dessert.

Flaxseed is awesome and a vital ingredient in these crepes!

So, without further ado, here is the delicious, healthy whole wheat crepes with flaxseed recipe full of healthy flaxseed, eggs and whole wheat.

Ingredients

Step by step how to make whole wheat crepes with flaxseed

Step 1

Heat a griddle or pan. You can use a pan, sprinkled with oil if needed for sticking but I recommend a griddle for best results!

Step 2

Mix all of the ingredients together in any order while the griddle is heating, making sure they are very well blended together.

Step 3

Scoop up and pour the crepe mix onto a hot griddle.

Step 4

Move the griddle around manually until the batter is spread around and the crepe is the size you want it to be(be careful not to burn yourself while completing this step!)

Step 5

Flip over to cook the crepe on the second side when the batter starts to bubble and the edges start to brown.

Step 6

Cool. Serve with maple syrup, honey, whipped cream, or another sweetener of your choice.

  • You can top the crepes with delicious fruit such as fresh strawberries, blackberries or blueberries
  • Manually turn the griddle immediately after pouring the batter onto the pan/griddle to spread out the batter and make the crepe larger and thinner.

Cooking tools we recommend for this recipe

  • Griddle: For cooking the crepes. I can’t say enough good things about a GRIDDLE. We have one and it is amazing. Nonstick, easy to flip whatever I put onto it, easy to clean, large in size so you can fit multiple things on there, great for making things other than just pancakes or crepes, such as eggs, sausage… etc etc etc. I LOVE our griddle. It is an amazing investment. I can fit around 6 pancakes and 2 crepes on our griddle. I don’t need to sprinkle olive oil on it because nothing normally sticks. Seriously. It’s electric and simple to use. Highly recommend looking at a griddle for this recipe!!
  • Turner: to flip the crepes
  • Large Bowl: For the batter
  • Whisk: For mixing the batter
  • Measuring Cups and Measuring spoons: for the solids and smaller ingredients
  • Liquids measuring cup: For measuring the liquids in the recipe
