I was craving, literally CRAVING some enchiladas with homemade tomatillo sauce. So…I decided to conjure up some of my skills and make it. And oh boy is it tasty and delicious! I highly recommend this recipe to anyone that is a Mexican food lover.
Magic ingredient in this sauce? Cilantro!
Gotta love good ol’ cilantro and the kick it adds to a recipe.
We’ve made pico de gallo with cilantro(the perfect side to any Mexican meal) and that recipe is both healthy and full of flavor.
So, without further ado, here it is… Homemade Tomatillo Sauce!
What ingredients will you need?
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 9 Green Tomatillos
- 1/2 medium yellow onion
- 2 tbsp chopped fresh cilantro
- 1 tisp of black pepper
- 1/2 tsp of salt (I prefer iodized salt)
How do you make this simply delicious homemade tomatillo sauce?
Dice vegetables into small pieces. I highly recommend a vegetable slicer/chopper. It’ll make dicing up those vegetables so much easier and will save you a lot of time. If you’re afraid of getting your finger cut by a knife everytime you dice those veggies(that’s totally me), I would look into the vegetable slicer.
Don’t believe me? Check out how it all works:
It’s so simple!
It’s amazing how you can just take some veggies, place them on the dicer, push down and they come out exactly how you wanted them. No more chopping, dicing, cutting and taking so much time to prepare meals.
If you’re ready to live the easy cookin’ life, then look no further than the Nemco easy chopper vegetable dicer!
Once you’ve chopped up all of your veggies, add them all into a blender and blend until smooth. I highly recommend the oster blender brand-we’ve had ours for years and can just replace parts as they break.
The other day, our blender broke and just by looking at youtube, my hubby was able to figure out how to replace a part on there. And guess what? That part was only around a couple dollars.
Way to save us a couple hundred dollars. I’m grateful for youtube!
Don’t spend hundreds of dollars on a plastic blender-they break eventually. We love our Oster brand blender. It’s glass and LASTS!!
Once all of your ingredients are blended, transfer blended ingredients into a pot.
Boil in pot at Medium heat until boiling, then lower to low heat.
Add black pepper and salt into the sauce.
Simmer sauce for about 20 minutes.
Cool and serve with any recipe of your choosing.
It’s that simple!
