We used spinach infused ziti noodles instead of the traditional white pasta. We purchased the spinach infused ziti noodles at a local walmart. We also included spinach in the ricotta mix.

You can also make this recipe gluten-free by selecting other noodles, such as these gluten-free ziti noodles to use in the recipe. 

In addition to using spinach infused noodles, we added frozen spinach to the recipe. You can include this ingredient or take it out- however we highly suggest you take a look at the health benefits of spinach before doing so.

Step 1

In a pot, boil water and cook the ziti noodles. Follow the instructions on the package of the ziti or other noodles you chose to use. While the ziti is cooking, mix the spinach, mozzerella, parmesan cheese, nutmeg, basil, salt, black pepper, ricotta cheese, and egg.

Step 2

Once the ziti is cooked, spread the ziti onto a pyrex or other glass dish for baking. Mix in the cheesy, spice-filled sauce mixture into the ziti.

Add the tomato sauce and mix altogether.
