This recipe is simple. Mix all of the said ingredients together to make a stuffing for the shells, stuff the shell pasta with the stuffing, top the shells with sauce and cheese. Then bake! Easy Peasy.

Step by Step how to Make this Baked Shells with Spinach Recipe

Step 1

Begin by boiling water in pot and following instructions to make the shell pasta. Drain when ready. We recommend adding water to the pasta when draining to prevent sticking of the shells.

Step 2

Once the pasta has started cooking, spread 1/4 of the pasta sauce on the bottom of a pyrex or other baking dish and set aside.

Step 3

Mix together the spinach, mozzarella cheese, parmesan cheese, nutmeg, basil, salt, black pepper, ricotta cheese and egg into a large mixing bowl.

Step 4

Take a shell and fill it with 1-2 scoops of the ricotta stuffing mix. Place the shell onto the pyrex (or other baking dish). Continue this process until all of the shells have been filled with stuffing and have been placed next to each other on the pyrex/baking dish.

Step 5

Top the shells with the remaining pasta sauce.

Sprinkle the pasta covered shells with additional mozzarella cheese.

Step 7

Cover with aluminum foil and bake at 400 degrees for 25-30 min. Uncover the shells and let them cool. Make sure the cheese on top is completely melted.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup frozen spinach
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
